King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) serve as a graduate-level research university, recently open in September 2009. These beautiful pieces of contemporary architectures were built on a 6.5 million sqf on a 9000 acres site along the Red Sea, and could accomodate up to 20,000 people once it is completed.
Gambar-gambar di atas tak termasuk facilities seperti kolam renang size olimpik, pelbagai jenis stadium dan halls, gardens, fountains etc..Khas untuk graduate studies aka master, phd and post-phd dalam bidang science dan technology sahaja, itupun kalau diorang sempat enjoy the view while doing their research la, kan? :P My hubby made me googled this. Err, abang nak wat double phd ker? Takper, ganbatte. Biar saya and the kids tolong enjoy the facilities.

KAUST mungkin satu satunya universiti di Arab Saudi yg mempunyai student lelaki dan wanita. Dengar cerite pelajar wanita juga tidak diwajibkan memakai abaya sebagaimana di universiti lain. Actually, pembukaan universiti ini menimbulkan konterversi dalam kalangan ulama arab saudi. Sesetengah ulama konservetif arab saudi bimbang percampuran antara lelaki and perempuan akan mencetuskan masalah sosial. walau apapun, KAUST memang cool..

Ada cerita di balik tabir rupanya.. Thanks for the info. Hmm, bagi saya yang belum pernah ke middle east, saya belum nampak kepentingan ber"abaya" berbanding ber"hijab". Bagi mereka, mungkin ada sebab untuk relate hal tersebut dengan masalah sosial. Harapnya takder lah kan :)
KAUST memang cool. Harap berbaloi untuk generate Muslim scientists dengan lebih ramai :)
