I must say that it's quite rare to see commercial rivals where some products went bashing the other products via TV commercials in Asian TV (or maybe none at all?). Most of the time we would rather use "jenama X" or "bandingkan dengan yang lain" or "jenama terunggul di Malaysia". I mean, ever watched something like "Proton tak bagus. Belilah Perodua" or "Streamyx adalah Screamyx" or "Hapuskan CIMB"?
But here in Canada, you could see that they really enjoy their "freedom of speech" and just say whatever they wanted to, about the other rival products- there have been very harsh competitions via TV commercials among the companies: such as telecommunication services (AT&T vs Verizon), TV companies (Shaw vs CTV etc) and fast foods (some restaurants vs McD). Whilst, the competition among the insurance companies here are very clearly depicted in the commercials. There would always be one ads to answer/bash the previous ads by their rival companies..vice versa. They even called certain politicians names :P
There are many such commercials, but I've decided not to embed the files/videos here, since though they may sound funny at first, eventually they would look so desperate and...pathetic.
But if you really wanna know how, here are some of the examples:-->
Chevy vs Honda
One (from the few commercials) of chevy a.k.a GM desperate attempts to save their sorry souls. Well, I kinda think that the ads were somehow mean despite Chevy's attempt to bring humor by making fun of Honda - by bringing up their lawn mowers.Yea right~
Mac vs PC (Vista)
Well, at least MAC made the competitions sound.. funny.
Mac: Hello, I’m a Mac.
The OS: Mac has issued a salutation. Cancel or allow?
PC: Allow. And I’m a PC --
The OS: You r returning Mac salutation: Cancel or allow?
PC: Allow.
If you think the above wasnt hilarious enough, wait till you see the next commercial, when Mac featured PC as "Mr Bean" in "Mr Loba-Loba version" , i guessed it was sort of saying 'What a joke' to PC... Ughh~ this video makes my day.. *gelak golek-golek*
