The whole world are talking about Obama's countdown to the white house. Out of the blue, he managed to draw an enormous attention from Muslims, economists, middle-class citizens, the blacks and the colors and and... This attention (and curiosity) is translated as HOPE!
Im not the right person to predict what he has to offer us in the future, however, this madness that is being celebrated by the whole world at this very moment kind of reminds me to something similar, very similar indeed. It was way back in 2001 while I was in japan.
CHAPTER ONE: The Koizumi mania!
Yea, you heard it right. 2001- that was when Japan's economy were in alarm. Koizumi was described as "someone whom interacted with, not merely reacted to, his political environment". Everybody was talking about how he used to smile a lot more than the previous PMs and how his white and tousled hair resembles 'lion', thus honoured him with the name, "Lion heart"...
Then came food, okashii etc named after him or shaped to resemble him. People rushed to the stores to get their own and limited stocks of tshirts, hand phone straps, dolls, caps, etc etc). Many study papers (master thesis, journals etc) were published regarding his political views and security politics transformation.
In short, every single things he did attracted thousands interpretations and speculations. His hair, his shirts, his shoes, his neckties! Suddenly the world seemed to revolve around him.
On the other hand,a woman stabbed herself in the neck and stomach in a suicide attempt after trying to drive a car into the Japanese prime minister's official residence. Whilst, a Japanese man has slashed his throat with a knife in an apparent suicide bid at a rally where Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi was launching his party's parliamentary election campaign.
Scary huh! Just to let you know the huge impact he had on Japan and its people.
CHAPTER TWO: OBAMANIA
"A man who jumped 60 feet to his death from the Spaghetti Bowl on Thursday left a note with a message for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama. "
Found similarities? Coincidence, maybe..
Let's not put hope aside.

Betul kak..Presiden US hanya pada nama tetapi dr segi tindakan tdk ubah spt patung yg menurut/tunduk pd kuasa2 besar kapitalis yg menguasai kedudukan ekonomi dunia..Jgn terlalu berharap perubahan besar dr Obama..end up dia akan jd mcm prev. US presidents..hehee
